A woman was allegedly slapped in the face after being groped by a man in Melbourne.
Police said the 20-year-old woman was walking with friends near the intersection of King and Lonsdale streets about 5 am on Sunday, May 8 when they were approached by a group of men.
“It’s understood one of the males then groped at the victim’s bottom sexually assaulting her. An altercation broke out between the groups before the victim was subsequently struck to the face with an open palm,” Victoria Police said.
The group of men then walked towards Lonsdale Street, and the woman was taken to hospital with bruising and concussion, police said.
Police have released images of a man they believe could help assist with their investigation.
The man is perceived to be of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, with shoulder-length dark hair in bunched, dreadlock-type curls.
He was wearing a light blue t-shirt, faded jeans, and had a dark beanie tucked into the front of his jeans.
