Victorian covid case numbers have sky-rocketed with 29 locally acquired cases being recorded in the last 24 hours.
The cases are all linked to previously reported cases and none were in quarantine during their infectious periods. The state recorded 43,618 test results during the 24 hour period.
The news comes as Victorian exposure sites also grow while the state prepares to spend the weekend in their sixth COVID-19 lockdown.
A plane arriving in Melbourne from Sydney, a leisure centre and several shops are among the latest location to be listed as a Tier 1 locations added to the list.
Health Minister Martin Foley yesterday said the state “remains in a precarious position” following the snap lockdown put in place on Thursday night.
A student at Warringa Park School and a household contact has been diagnosed with the virus were among three cases announced yesterday linked to the City of Maribyrnong cluster. Another was a cleaner at Epworth Hospital who worked in an administration area after hours but was not in contact with patients.
