A gang involved in filling smuggled cheap liquor from Chandigarh into bottles of expensive imported Scotch brands was busted by Excise Department, Punjab and district police Fatehgarh Sahib. Four persons, including a woman, were arrested in Mohali with fake liquor, which includes 4 cases of Chivas Regal, 4 cases of Glenlivet and 2 cases of Gold label reserve.
Divulging the details, Joint Excise commissioner Naresh Dubey informed that information was received that an organized gang was involved in smuggling cheap liquor from Chandigarh into Punjab and further filled in bottles of expensive scotch brands. With the coordinated efforts of Special Operation Group (SOG) of Excise department and district police Fatehgarh Sahib, intelligence inputs were gathered.
Two days back, the team got a tip that the accused Kundan Visht of Kajhedi village, Chandigarh, will be supplying fake scotch liquor. To catch the accused red-handed, teams of special operations group of Excise and Police swung into action and special nakabandi was done.
Two cars were intercepted on naka near khamano and four members of gang Kundan Visht, Harshwardan from Defence Colony Ambala, Pardeep Singh from Naryangarh, Jind and Jasmin Kaur from Sangrur were arrested on the spot.
During interrogation, the gang members further revealed that they smuggle cheap liquor from Chandigarh and fill it in expensive scotch empty bottles at their rented residence. Later, the team raided the rented residence of Pardeep Singh and Jasmin Kaur in Madanpur, District Mohali and recovered 2 cases of High Speed (for sale in Chandigarh), 2 cases of King Gold (for sale in Chandigarh), 1 case of U.K. no. 1 (for sale in Chandigarh), 150 empty bottles of U.K. no. 1(for sale in Chandigarh), 21 empty bottles of High speed whisky, 3 empty bottles of Singleton whisky, 5 empty bottles of Black label Johny walker, 14 empty bottles of Blue label, 5 cartons of Glenlivet, 2 cartons of Black dog gold, 1 carton of Glenfiddich 15 years and Caps of Glenlivet, Glenfiddich & Black label brands.
During investigation, the accused admitted that they buy empty bottles of scotch brands from different scrap dealers of Mohali and Ludhiana area.
