What looks like a mother of all battles in the electoral arena, former minister and senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia will contest against Punjab Pradesh Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu from Amritsar (East).
The two were once best of friends when Sidhu fought for the second time as MP from Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency. But ever since, they have become sworn enemies of each other and often call each other names.
Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal made tis declaration in Amritsar on Wednesday evening. This happened hours after Majithia, who was booked in a drugs smuggling case, demanded that his case should be investigated by a panel of three DGPs—Dinkar Gupta, Prabodh Kumar, and VK Bhawra.
Majithia will also contest the polls from the assembly seat of Majithia. He represented this in the Punjab Assembly in 2012 and then again in 2017.
