Punjab govt withdraws SOP orders regarding travel except for international travellers

The government of Punjab had issued Standard Operating Procedures for management of persons to Punjab by all means of transport i.e Air, Rail and by road on July 3, 2020.

The Punjab government has now withdrawn these orders in view of Unlock-5 guidelines issued by Government of India on September 30, 2020. However, the passenger coming to Punjab through international flights would be guided as per standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued in this regard from time to time.

As part of Unlock 5.0 guidelines, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on September 30 released guidelines which will remain in place till October 31. The guidelines allow for further relaxation of restrictions on activities outside of containment zones.

The government has allowed cinema halls, theatres and multiplexes to reopen, with 50 percent capacity, from October 15. Standard operating procedure for the same would be issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The Centre has asked states and Union Territories to take a call on reopening of schools from October 15.
