Process started for amendment in electoral rolls

A spokesperson of State Election Commission informed here today that the process for amendments in electoral roll has been started in three development blocks viz Totu and Chopal in district Shimla and Dharmpur in district Mandi. He said that elections for Pradhan would be held in near future in these development blocks.

Besides the amendment programme of electoral rolls in four Municipal Corporations- Mandi, Palampur, Dharmshala and Solan and six Nagar Panchayats Anni, Nirmand, Nerwa, Chirgaon, Kandaghat and Amb would be started soon. Directions have been given to all concerned Deputy Commissioners in this regard.

The draft voter list would be published on 11th February, 2021, claims and objections would be presented on 16th February, claims and objections would be settled on 19th February, presentation of appeal on 22nd February, appeal would be settled on 25th February and the final publication of voter lists would be done on 26th February, 2021.

The spokesperson said that the programme would be implemented in those Panchayats and urban local bodies as well where elections were held recently and due to certain reasons the post of office bearers are still vacant. He has urged the voters to inspect the voter lists and present their claims and objections to the concerned officers.
