Man stabbed at bustling Melbourne cafe during Sunday brunch

A man has suffered serious injuries after being stabbed multiple times at a Melbourne cafe in front of diners enjoying their Sunday brunch.
Police were called after an altercation broke out at Staple Providore & Cafe in St Kilda just before 10am today.
Witnesses have described the incident as horrifying and say the victim let out a deafening scream as onlookers pinned the alleged attacker to the ground.
“There was blood everywhere,” nearby cafe owner Ashok Bisht told 9NEWS.
“It looked like he had been stabbed in the neck. He was still breathing but he was in a bad condition.
“Everyone was chilling out … having coffee then suddenly this happens. It was horrifying.”
The victim received multiple stab wounds to the upper body and was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
He was sitting having a coffee when the alleged attacker walked by and stabbed him after a short argument.
“He said ‘help, help, call the ambulance’,” Mr Baskar said.
