Mackay mum realises she won $1.3 million, not $1,300 in lottery

A Mackay woman thought she had won $1,300 on Saturday’s Gold Lotto but soon discovered it was $1.3 million.
The North Queensland resident held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw. She purchased her 18-game QuickPick entry at News Central in Rural View.
“I checked my ticket online yesterday. Initially, I thought I’d won $1,300, and I was delighted,” the mother said.
“But then I kept looking at the ticket, and I saw all the numbers lit up in a line. I realised I’d won $1.3 million, not $1,300.
“I went all jittery. It was such an unbelievable moment.”
The woman said her husband was at the shops getting lunch and had left his phone at home so she had to wait to tell him the news.
“When he finally got back, I broke the news to him, and he started shaking so much. We were so happy,” she said.
“It’s come at the best time for us and will make a tremendous difference to our lives.”
The couple plan to use the prize to help their growing family and save for retirement.
“Now that I know this is real, I can calm down. I might even make us some bacon and eggs to continue the celebration.”
