The NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants program is supporting 28 projects across the State, to help local organisations deliver critical services in the wake of COVID-19 and bushfires.
Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello said this latest round of grants prioritised projects to repair and rebuild local assets and will help communities maintain sporting, social and cultural activities impacted by the pandemic.
“Many local communities were still grappling with the impacts of the bushfires when COVID-19 hit – the combined devastation of a natural disaster and a pandemic is unfathomable,” Mr Dominello said.
“Local organisations are the lifeblood for so many communities, and we want to do everything we can to support them so they can keep their doors open and provide vital services.”
The Infrastructure Grants program has an allocation of $10 million in 2020/21 to fund projects to upgrade facilities across arts and culture, community infrastructure, sport and recreation, and disaster readiness.
Dominello said the funding will provide some great new or improved facilities for local community organisations to grow and prosper in 2021.
“These projects will strengthen communities by boosting equity and inclusion, participation in sports and social and cultural events, and disaster readiness,” Mr Dominello said.
Since 2015, the NSW Government has funded more than 380 community projects worth $67 million under the Infrastructure Grants Program.
The grants are made possible by the Clubgrants Category 3 Fund which re-invests profits from registered clubs’ gaming machines into a statewide funding pool for large-scale community projects.
