BJP MP from Chandigarh and renowned actress Kirron Kher is suffering from multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, and is currently undergoing treatment in Mumbai. Chandigarh BJP president and Kirron’s colleague, Arun Sood revealed the same at a press conference on Wednesday (March 31). Sood further added that the 68-year-old Bollywood actor-turned-politician is recovering after her treatment for the disease started last year. Anupam Kher, Kirron Kher’s husband also took to Twitter to confirm the news.
Putting an end to all the rumours circulating on the web, Anupam Kher shared a note on Twitter confirming that Kirron Kher has been diagnosed with blood cancer and is undergoing treatment. The statement, that was released on behalf of his son Sikander and him, reads, “Just so that the rumours don’t get the better of a situation Sikander and I would like to inform everyone that Kirron has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. She is currently undergoing treatment and we are sure she will come out of this stronger than before. We are very blessed that she is being looked after by a phenomenal set of doctors. She’s always been a fighter and takes things head on.”
“She’s all heart and that’s why she has so many people that love her. So keep sending your love to her in your prayers and in your heart. She is well on her way to recovery and we thank everyone for their support and love. Anupam and Sikander (sic),” he added.
But it was Arun Sood who first confirmed the news. Speaking at a press conference, Arun Sood had said, “She had suffered a broken left arm at her Chandigarh house on November 11 last year. After her medical tests at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The disease had spread to her left arm and right shoulder. For treatment she had to go to Mumbai on December 4.”
Arun Sood also said that Kirron is currently recovering and though she isn’t admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital anymore, she does have to visit the hospital for regular treatment. “Even though she is recovering after her four-month treatment and no longer admitted at Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai, she has to visit the hospital regularly for treatment,” he said.
Kirron Kher, an actress and veteran actor Anupam Kher’s wife, joined politics in 2014 when she joined the BJP. Despite joining politics, Kirron did not quit showbiz. She is seen as a judge on the reality show India’s Got Talent, along with Karan Johar and Malaika Arora.
