Kartar Singh from Himachal gets Padma Shri Award for art work


Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has congratulated Kartar Singh for having being announced for Padma Shri Award by the Government of India for his outstanding work in the field of art. He is famous for for his art work in woodcraft and carving wood inside glass bottles.

He makes miniature idols on bamboo sticks and inserts them in glass bottles. He has done so with prime minister Narendra Modi’s statue, Eiffil Tower, Taj Mahal and many other famous places and personalities. The state govt had referred his name to the Centre for Padma shri in the arts category.

Kartar Singh belongs to district Hamirpur of Himachal Pradesh and retired as a pharmacist from NIT, Hamirpur.
