Kolkata Knight Riders beat Rajasthan Royals by 60 runs to stay alive in the hunt for the playoffs. Jos Buttler after and Rahul Tewatia attempted to steady the RR boat that was rocked by the Pat Cummins storm. Wickets continued to tumble for RR, whose top order was blown away by Cummins, who finished with 4/34.
Dinesh Karthik took a stellar one-handed catch to dismiss the in-form Ben Stokes after KKR had an early breakthrough with Robin Uthappa falling to Cummins in the first over, but not before 19 runs were already scored off the first five balls. Eoin Morgan hit an unbeaten 68, his highest score in the IPL to take KKR to 191/7. All-rounder Rahul Tewatia finished his spell with 3/25 with wickets of Shubman Gill, Sunil Narine and Dinesh Karthik.
Shreyas Gopal picked up a wicket as well, dismissing Rahul Tripathi, nicely caught by Uthappa for 39. Batting first, Gill and Tripathi had put on an impressive 72-run stand after Jofra Archer removed Nitish Rana in his first over. RR captain Steve Smith had won the toss and opted to bowl.
