French Open: Alexander Zverev injured in semi final against Rafa

Alexander Zverev appeared to have twisted his ankle while trying to attempt a return against Rafael Nadal in the second set of the ongoing French Open 2022 semi-final at Court Philippe-Chatrier in Paris.

Earlier, Rafael Nadal took the first set 7-6 (10-8) against Alexander Zverev. Earlier, Nadal came back from 2-4 down to take the first set 7-6 (10-8) after the tie breaker. However, Nadal broke back Zverev before the first went into a tie-break.

Both players cancelled out each other in the tie-break but it was Nadal who eventually went 1-0 up. 13-time champion Nadal would look to take the momentum from his quarterfinal match where he defeated the world number one Novak Djokovic.

Nadal, who is celebrating his 36th birthday today, will look to clinch a record-extending 14th title at Roland Garros. Zverev, on the other hand, was beaten at the same stage last season. The 25-year-old had defeated Carlos Alcaraz Garfia in the previous round, and will look to reach just his second slam final. Later today, eight-seed Casper Ruud will take on Marin Cilic in the other semi final.
