Delhi Capitals beat KKR by 18 runs

In the end, Delhi Capitals survived the onslaught of Eion Morgan after a penultimate over catch at the boundary of Morgan. Till then the game looked evenly balanced. Before that they needed 71 runs of the last four overs. But it was reduced to 31 runs in the last 12 balls.

KKR batsman Eoin Morgan held one end following the dismissals of Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Dinesh Karthik, Pat Cummins and Shubman Gill, after being handed a record target of 229 runs.

Delhi Capitals (DC) posted a total of 228/4 after the side was sent in to bat by KKR in the 16th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Skipper Shreyas Iyer scored his fastest half-century ever in the tournament, remaining unbeaten on 88.

Iyer’s knock comprised of seven boundaries and six sixes. Opener Prithvi Shaw earlier smashed 66 runs off 41 deliveries, in an innings comprising of four boundaries and as many sixes. The duo further enjoyed support from wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant who scored a 17-ball 38. Andre Russell was the pick of the bowlers for KKR, picking two wickets while conceding 29 runs.
