A long summer wait is finally over for New South Wales’ HSC students of 2021, who will find out their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) today.
The delayed results will be available on the University Admission Centre (UAC) website from 9am (AEDT) today.
The ex-students will need their Year 12 student number and their UAC PIN to log in.
There is a three-hour gap between the release of HSC results and the release of ATAR results, and it appears the ex-Year 12s aren’t overly willing to wait.
The top Google search result for “ATAR calculator” – the Talent 100 website – was crashing this morning ahead of the ATARs being revealed.
But the second, Matrix Education’s calculator, appeared to remain accessible.
The UAC released some statistics about the results – revealing that despite the ongoing disruption to education during pandemic lockdowns last year, the median ATAR actually rose on 2020, to 70.40.
Of the 54,841 students eligible for an ATAR this year, 48 received the top mark of 99.95.
Of that elite crew, 14 were female and 34 were male.
“They came from a mix of government and non-government schools and studied a wide range of courses,” ATAR noted in their release.
Overall, 17.1 per cent of students received an ATAR of 90 or higher, 34.2 per cent topped 80, and 50.7 per cent topped 70.
The median ATAR for female students was 71.8, compared to 68.7 for their male counterparts.
UAC general manager of marketing and engagement Kim Paino congratulated all HSC students, noting the disruption they had faced in the past year.
“Be proud of what you’ve achieved,” she said.
“If your ATAR isn’t exactly what you hoped, there are plenty of options so make sure you tap into all the amazing resources available to you.”
Students with questions about their ATAR can call UAC’s ATAR Enquiry Centre on (02) 9119 5012 on the following days:
In addition, UAC’s Customer Service call centre will be open from 8.30am to 6.30pm on Thursday and Friday to take general queries.
