After winning 9 out of 14 matches in their maiden IPL performance, K L Rahul led Lucknow super Giants are out of the race for the final IPL play off. Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 14 runs to book a place in the Qualifier 2 of IPL 2022, where they will face Rajasthan Royals.

With a target of 208, LSG was powered by Captain KL Rahul’s entertaining 79 and his partner Deepak Hooda’s contribution (45) which had initally put LSG in control. However, RCB got back in the game in the death overs.

LSG eventually finished with 193/6 in 20 overs which brought an end to their impressive campaign in debut season.

Middle-order batter Rajat Patidar played one of the best IPL 2022 playoffs knocks to help Royal Challengers Bangalore as he remained unbeaten on 112 off 54 balls. He shared a 92*-run stand with Dinesh Karthik (37*) to take RCB past 200. LSG bowler Mohsin Khan was the only one to bowl economically well.LSG accelerated a bit too late and left too much for the finishers.

Earlier, after a long delay due to rain, Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Eden Gardens. Lucknow made a couple of changes in their XI as Krishnappa Gowtham and Jason Holder made places for Krunal Pandya and Dushmantha Chameera. While RCB decided to bring back Mohammed Siraj in the XI in place of Siddarth Kaul.

Harshal Patel (1/25) and Josh Hazlewood (3/43) were immense in the final two overs of the game, while Wanindu Hasaranga (1/42) took the important wicket of Hooda.

Lucknow Super Giants impressed many in their first season of IPL as KL Rahul led the team to the playoffs by winning 9 out of 14 matches in the league stage. The flamboyant opener led his team from the front by scoring 500-plus runs for his side.
