Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez said on Monday that one of their twin babies has died.The baby girl survived, while they lost their baby boy.
The couple had announced in October last year they were expecting twins.
Ronaldo took to social media on Monday to announce that he and his partner Georgina Rodriguez’s newborn baby boy died.
“It is with deep sadness we have to announce that our baby boy passed away,” Ronaldo and Rodriguez said in a joint statement on social media. “It is the greatest pain that any parent can feel.
“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness,” they said.
Taking to Instagram, he announced, “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
“Your pain is our pain, Cristiano,” Manchester United tweeted. “Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”
The couple, who met during Ronaldo’s time at Real Madrid, have a four-year old daughter together, while Ronaldo has three other children.
Before Georgina fell pregnant last year, Ronaldo was a dad to four children: Cristiano Jr (11), twins Eva and Mateo (4) as well as Alana Martina (3).
