COVID-19 cases have spiked in New South Wales and Victoria, with a total of 33 deaths recorded across the two states.
NSW recorded 10,650 new infections – a jump from yesterday’s 8874 positive tests.
Another five people died with the virus in the state, while 28 deaths were recorded in Victoria.
In Victoria, there were 7126 new infections, a slight rise from the 6879 cases detected yesterday.
There are 264 patients in hospital with COVID-19 in Victoria, compared to 1072 people in NSW hospitals with the virus.
A total of 59.4 per cent of Victorians have had their booster jab, while third dose vaccination rates sit at 54.5 per cent in NSW.
