COVID-19 cases have increased by thousands in both New South Wales and Victoria, with 21,494 and 10,916 cases recorded respectively.
To compare, NSW recorded 16,199 cases yesterday, and Victoria 8739.
In NSW a further nine lives have been lost, while in Victoria five people with coronavirus died overnight.
Hospitalisations have also trended up across the two states.
NSW has recorded 1283 hospitalisations with 53 people in ICU.
Victoria recorded 284 admissions. Of those, 33 are in ICU.
