Protesters who have been illegally camping in the Parliamentary Triangle in Canberra are being moved on today, with police ordering them elsewhere.
Police said they would move camp equipment and illegally parked vehicles in the area, after issuing repeat warnings on Wednesday and Thursday.
Gear and cars that are not moved might be seized, police said.
“ACT Policing would like to again confirm that peaceful protesting in the Parliamentary Triangle is permitted, however camping and parking without authority is not,” police said in a release.
It comes just days after police issued a warning to Canberra residents about potential disruptive protesting from “a range” of groups in the area.
Police initially expected protest activity to continue into next week.
