A wanted bikie has been arrested after he allegedly nearly bashed a stranger to death then took off. Danny Rapley, a member of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang, is accused of assaulting the bystander outside a supermarket in Salisbury North, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, about 5:15 pm on Sunday.
CCTV footage shows the bikie and a woman, who is holding a motorbike helmet, in the Drakes supermarket prior to the incident.
Rapley and the woman tried to pay for some items but their card was declined. Rapley — who appeared to be frustrated — then left the store to take cash out from an ATM before trying to buy cigarettes.
Police say Rapley was then involved in some kind of altercation with the woman outside the store before a 49-year-old good Samaritan tried to intervene in the dispute. Rapley then allegedly assaulted the man before riding away on a blue Suzuki motorbike with the woman on the back.
The man, from Paralowie, suffered critical head injuries and was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he remains.
Police arrested Rapley about 11.30am on Tuesday and he is expected to be charged later in the day. Police say the man was not known to Rapley.
Anyone with dashcam footage or CCTV of the incident is asked to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or go online.
