All efforts to make next phase of vaccination a success: Jai Ram Thakur

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in a press statement issued here today said that the State government is making all out effort for making the next phase of vaccination a success.  He said that a detailed plan would be prepared and would be announced accordingly to ensure smooth conduction of vaccination drive.

Chief Minister said the Centre Government has given independence to the States for purchase of vaccine and preparation of plan, therefore the state government is determined to take the programme forward with responsibility to overcome health crisis. He said that the entire world, especially our country was going through health crisis. The government is taking effective steps to strengthen health infrastructure and to meet social challenges. A vast country like India, with high density population, the containment of the spread of virus was difficult task, yet the first wave didn’t cause much damage but the second wave is testing our capacity to the limit.

Jai Ram Thakur said that efforts are being made to fulfil the demand of hospital beds, oxygen, medical equipment etc.  He said that vaccine and vaccination play an important role in Covid-19 protection. He said that India was fortunate enough to have two indigenous vaccines prepared in the country, as a result of the efforts of scientific community, Pharmaceutical industry and all this was possible due to the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the government has completed three phases of vaccination. One was for healthcare workers, second for frontline workers and third for above 45 years population.

Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh had received 1919710 lakhs doses of vaccination for three phases and till date 1665781 lakh persons have been vaccinated. About 255619 lakh doses were still available in the state for further vaccination. Both the hospital staff and population who got vaccinated deserve appreciation. The whole process was well planned, well executed and complete cooperation was given by people.

He said that now the fourth phase of vaccination for a large group of population was to be started. The Centre has given freehand in this phase for procurement and implementation plan as per the demand of various Chief Ministers in last three months to give liberty in choice of vaccine and planning of vaccination. Now it’s the duty of the state to procure the vaccine and plan successful vaccination of larger population. Pharmaceutical companies are in the process of expanding their capacities. He said that the third vaccine would also get introduced soon and many states have placed the order with companies. He said the vaccination would start as and when the vaccine is received.
