AAP Heading Towards A Landslide Majority In Punjab, BJP In Uttar Pradesh

The Aam Aadmi Party took a big lead in Punjab and is ahead in 88 seats out of 117 with several heavyweights, including Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, trailing behind its nominees in many seats, according to early trends.

As of 10:20 am, trends have AAP at 88 and Congress at 12 out of total 117 seats. Akalis are at 11 and BJP and allies at 5.

Early trends show Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi leading from Chamkaur Sahib and trailing from another seat, Bhadaur; former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh trailing by about 12,000 votes; Navjot Singh Sidhu moving to the third position after initial leads.

BJP is leading 4 out of the 5 states whose results for Assembly polls are being declared today.
