33 people have died across New South Wales and Victoria as the states recorded an increase in COVID-19 cases.
Of the deaths, 18 were recorded in NSW and 15 in Victoria.
NSW recorded 9,849 new coronavirus infections, an increase from yesterday’s 7,985; the day which marked the state’s new reporting system
Victoria reported 9,265 infections, which is a increase from yesterday where 7,643 were recorded.
Hospitalisations have slightly increased across the two states.
The figures come as students in Victoria and NSW prepare to return for Term Two with eased restrictions this week.
In Victoria, the mask mandate for grades three to six have been scrapped, while those deemed close contacts no longer have to isolate.
