Two people are in hospital after a 10-car crash at Tarro in the Hunter region of New South Wales.
The crash happened just before 6.30am on the New England Highway, north-west of Newcastle.
Paramedics assessed six people at the scene, with two taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
“Paramedics were confronted with a complex scene on arrival,” NSW Ambulance Inspector Jason Saper said.
“One patient was initially trapped, with the assistance of other emergency services we were able to safely extricate the patient and provide ongoing treatment.”
He said paramedics had treated “multiple patients on a very busy road”.
